Me

I’m a qualified counsellor, trained to draw on a broad range of theories and approaches and put them together in a way that suits you  (“Integrative” in the jargon).  As a Registered Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (www.bacp.co.uk) you can be assured that I have been trained to a recognised standard, that I work to a professional code of conduct (which you can read here) and that my practice meets the BACP's higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner.

But I haven’t always been a counsellor.  I have over 25 years' experience working in finance and technology.  I’ve worked at board level in some huge organisations and at the coal face in some tiny ones.  And things didn’t always go to plan.  So I have first hand experience of the stresses that come from high pressured work environments and the challenges that real life can bring outside of the counselling room.

While my approach can be helpful to almost anything you want to look at, I have particular experience of working with:

  • Gender and sexual identity

  • Emotional and physical abuse

  • Bereavement and grief

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Substance misuse and recovery

  • Relationship problems.

I work with individuals and couples, aged 20 and over.

And in the unlikely event that you bring something that I don’t think I can help you with, I’ll do my best to help you find an alternative source of support.
